Mary Cariola Children’s Center (MCCC) does remarkable work every day with children and youth with diverse, complex needs. But the common need they all share is money—funding for everyday necessities, unexpected needs, and special improvements. A rebrand for their annual fundraising event, Walking on Sunshine, led to a heartwarming campaign comparing the children at MCCC to aspects of the sun. The campaign exceeded both registrant and financial goals and was so well-received that it was asked to leverage its elements to support a $5 million capital campaign. The We Will Shine case statement asked for the community’s support for a variety of necessary projects. As a thank-you to donors, we created a template for individual paintings so MCCC's remarkable kids could paint and let their creativity and appreciation shine.
